Angsana Laguna Phuket Launches ‘An Island within an Island’

Central to the famed resort’s strategy is the celebration of its lagoons as the property repositions as a nature-inspired active lifestyle destination for young families.

Angsana Laguna Phuket, a legend in the Laguna archipelago of resorts, is repositioning in anticipation of a post-Covid young-family market that prioritizes safety, nature-based experiences, and bonding through discovery.

Situated within a site regenerated from tin mines from the 16th century,  Angsana Laguna Phuket, in the pioneering spirit of the 1,000-acre Laguna Phuket destination, is launching an “Island within an Island” concept that celebrates the calming lagoons that surround the resort.

The “Island within an Island” positioning alludes to the idyllic safety families can enjoy – to be together, explore, learn and bond with 3 main highlights:

At the core of the Island within an Island are the lagoons themselves which Angsana Laguna Phuket is utilising for a host of original experiences – starting with a unique sense of arrival where by guests check into their villas by boat as the resort recreates the romanticism of a bygone era.

The casuarina tree-fringed lagoons, interspersed by the vibrant colour of hang nok yung (red flame) trees play host to a serene learning environment for non-motorised sports such as sailing, stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking – ideal for children and teenagers to acquire new outdoor skills.

Eco-excursions are also available in kayak-led expeditions of the lagoon’s biosphere, travelling through small canals and under arched bridges, to view gardens that line lagoon banks and watch lizards and tropical birds in their natural habitats.

Angsana will also bring the local area to life with a series of authentic and immersive activities for families and groups. From fishing trips led by locals on the open ocean to competitive dragon boat racing across the lagoons, bike rides through the countryside, beachfront camp fires and more, all families can soak up the lush surroundings.

“The lagoons are the heart and soul of Angsana so bringing them back into focus with the launch of the ‘Island within an Island’ concept provides a refreshed identity for our resort, while highlighting outdoor activities,” said Michal Zitek, General Manager of Angsana Laguna Phuket. “We feel the timing is right. The Phuket Sandbox is now a successfully proven programme and the domestic Thai market is able to freely travel to Phuket once again.”

Set along the shores of Bang Tao Bay, Angsana Laguna Phuket comprises 371 rooms and suites, six restaurants, a spa, a lagoon-side wedding chapel, a 300-metre free-form pool, 798 sqm indoor meeting space and Xana Beach Club. Alfresco terraces and lakeside tables dot the lagoons where there are spectacular sunrise and sunset locations.

Angsana Laguna Phuket is a self-enclosed integrated resort and part of the safe haven destination of Laguna Phuket. With its staff fully vaccinated against Covid-19, the resort has achieved the Amazing Thailand Safety & Health Administration (SHA) Plus certificate and is welcoming overseas visitors under the Phuket Sandbox programme. Laguna Phuket has also partnered with BDMS and Bangkok Hospital to launch an internationally-accredited PCR test centre, so inbound travellers can be tested conveniently, without disrupting their holiday.
