Mother Chef: A Korat Soul Food Experience

Wine Garage is delighted to present a creative culinary experience bringing rural Korat to life in a secret city hideaway. A five-course chef’s table for those who seek the unexpected for Songkran.

Don’t miss the latest edition of Mother Chef on Sunday, Apr. 4 at MRMH Studio in Bangkok Noi. A selection of wines by Wine Garage will be paired with 12 dishes from Korat Mother Chef ‘Maa Prachuap’ inspired by family recipes and traditional cooking techniques. The first three courses will be introduced with a poetic spoken song “Khub Sepha.” Invoking a sensorial journey to Korat, a celebration of a rural crossroads with diverse influences.

The main course is all about generosity of spirit and a celebration of the astrological passage of Songkran. The evening will culminate with a candle-lit ceremonial dance offering that builds into a village style soeng samrub – where everyone helps carry a samrub of five dishes to the table in a festive communal carnival. The food will be eaten family-style with organic Esan rice and a curated gamay to complement stronger meatier tastes.

Two types of fun holiday desserts featuring seasonal orchard fruits will be served with a home-smoked tea, better known as kao niew luum poa – literally “sticky rice forgets husband” – which provides an uplifting, mellow round-off to a Sunday evening feast.

The event promises to be an auspicious nourishment of body and soul to welcome the Thai New Year. You may want to visit Mango Art Festival at Lhong 1919 during the afternoon, then head to Wat Arun for the sunset before arriving at MRMH Studio for dinner. The one-off special evening is limited to 20 seats only. Seating is by individual tables. The experience commences at 6:30pm and the price per seat is THB 3,900 net and payable with booking.
