The St. Regis Bangkok Marks 10th Anniversary with Elegant Afternoon Tea
The St. Regis Bangkok celebrates its 10th anniversary on Apr. 1 with a series of gastronomic experiences including “Caroline’s Afternoon Tea,” presented from Apr. 1 – May 31 at The St. Regis Bar.
A signature ritual of The St. Regis, the tradition of afternoon tea represents a favourite pastime of many luminaries during the Gilded Age in New York, including Mrs. Caroline Astor, matriarch of The St. Regis founding family who transformed the occasion into an exclusive private social gathering for the city’s elite.
Inspired by Mrs. Astor’s elegance and passion for pearls and diamond jewellery, “Caroline’s Afternoon Tea” includes handcrafted sweet delights envisioned by Chef Aey Anupong, The St. Regis Bangkok’s Executive Pastry Chef and first runner-up in the Top Chef Thailand Dessert Edition. These include Martini White Peach with Champagne Jelly; Elegant New York Cheesecake; Amarena Cheery Crunchy Choux Flame with Cognac; and Rose Pearls Macaron.
Balancing out the sweet sensations is a selection of savoury items including Butter Poached Scallop, Roasted Pumpkin Cream and Caviar; Prosciutto, Fig and Ricotto; Truffle Infused Egg Custard, Crab Meat Salad; and Prawn with Bloody Mary Rose Sauce.
A quintessential component of the traditional afternoon tea, classic scones are reimagined as Jivara Chocolate Scones and Pistachio Nut Scones, served with salted caramel curd, mixed berry jam, and clotted cream.
“Caroline’s Afternoon Tea” is served with a choice of coffee or tea, including “The St. Regis Bangkok 10th Anniversary Tea.” Especially created for the occasion by TWG, the limited-edition black tea blend offers subtle notes of vanilla, berries, and anise.
A selection of themed cocktails has also been created to complement the afternoon tea experience, including Temptation to Celebrate, a deep flavoured aperitif style Champagne cocktail; and Disco Sazerac, a light-hearted twist on the classic whisky cocktail in the spirit of extravagance for which the famed 1970s nightclub Studio 54 was known.
Guests who dress up in a 1920s, Great Gatsby-inspired theme to enjoy “Caroline’s Afternoon Tea” receive one complimentary 10th Anniversary Cocktail.
“Caroline’s Afternoon Tea” is priced at THB 1,600++ per set including tea or coffee for two persons. Themed cocktails are priced at THB 395++ per glass. The afternoon tea is presented from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM from Apr. 1 – May 31 at The St. Regis Bar on the 12th floor of The St. Regis Bangkok.
